2 Hours on the Beach at Low Tide - Edgar Degas
ⓘ Multi-artwork channel — paintings rotate every 10 minutes.
Degas hated the bright sun. His eyes couldn't take it. While his friends sat on the sand for hours, Degas took a quick look, went back to a shaded studio, and drew this purely from memory. He didn't stop at one either. That single 1869 summer trip to Normandy triggered something in him. He locked himself away and worked in pastel, churning out over forty of these minimalist coastal scenes.
