He was Australian. She was English. Both painters, both impressionists. Ethel Carrick and Emannuel Phillips Fox met at the St Ives artist colony in Cornwall. Somewhere in there they decided the honeymoon phase should last a decade in Paris, right through the Belle Époque. They traveled to paint, and painted to travel.
