They Painted the World. Then They Painted Themselves

Cézanne. Van Gogh. Seurat. Toulouse-Lautrec. Valadon. Modersohn-Becker. Luce. Laurencin. Vuillard Each of these artists had a very different relationship with self-portraiture. Valadon painted herself without flattery. Van Gogh painted himself obsessively, like he was trying to figure something out. Seurat's portrait was done by his friend Signac, so he didn't even control his own image. Toulouse-Lautrec painted himself young, before the world had a chance to define him. 🎨 EcoArtLab — Frame TV & Printable Art Transform your space with museum-quality digital art #Manet #EdouardManet #Post-Imp
