The Place Next to Van Gogh's House

In 1888 France these places were everywhere. Completely normal. The one Van Gogh went to was on Rue du Bout d'Arles. Literally "The End of Arles Street." You can not make that up. And it was just a short walk from the Yellow House where he lived. So he went. For company. Because he was lonely and that is what people did. But this is Van Gogh we are talking about. The man who painted his shoes. His chair. His bedroom. His doctor. Everything he looked at long enough became a painting. He and Gauguin spent time there observing. Then he walked home and painted what stuck. Women in bright dresses.
