Nobody agrees on what those fruits are. Apples. Pears. The art historians are still arguing about it and Klimt left no notes. What he did leave is this. Farmhouse at Upper Austria, 1905. A farmhouse almost completely swallowed by two trees so full of fruit they stop making sense. You start counting and lose your place. You start over. Two hours might not be enough. He painted this around 1905. Same period he was doing the gold portraits everyone knows. But in the summers he went to the Austrian countryside and just painted trees. No gold.
