Among American Impressionists, Abbott Fuller Graves has no canvas in The Oval Office, like Childe Hassam. Not an All Star player, but probably the best garden painter America ever had. And it started in the most unlikely place. Before he could live off his art, he worked in a greenhouse arranging flowers all day. Then he painted what he arranged.
