John Leslie Breck showed up in Giverny in 1887. One of the very first Americans to do it. He didn't just paint there. He fell in love with Monet's stepdaughter. Monet shut that down fast. But before everything went sideways, Breck painted some of the most alive landscapes you'll ever see. Look at this apple tree. This is not a guy carefully studying French technique.
