Before Being Monet

Monet was 26 when he painted this. Broke. Unknown. Sharing a room in Honfleur with Bazille. Everyone told him to paint in a studio. He dragged his canvas to the port instead. Look at those reflections. He wasn't trying to show you boats. He was trying to show you what water does to everything it touches. This is before Impressionism even had a name. Monet was already doing it.
