Walter Elmer Schofield was known for frozen rivers and heavy winters. Gold medals, massive canvases, hours standing in blizzards painting outdoors. One of the top American Impressionists of his generation. Then he ended up in Southern California. Tujunga Canyon. The cold palette is gone but the energy is the same.
