This is 1900. The Pont Alexandre III was brand new, built for the World's Fair. Walden caught it at that exact moment when the city was electric, literally. Gas lamps giving way to electric lights, steam boats still working the Seine, and this bridge standing there like Paris was showing off. You have walked across that bridge. It looks almost exactly the same today.
