France Asked Monet For A Monument. He Gave Them Flowers
1918. War just ended. Eight million dead. Clemenceau, the prime minister, asks his oldest friend Monet to create something for France. Monet could have painted soldiers or flags. He gave them water lilies. Eight massive panels, six feet tall, up to 55 feet wide. He spent eight years on them, half blind, fighting the work every day. He never saw them installed. A country asked for a monument and got flowers on water. Somehow that said more than any bronze statue ever could. 🛒 Get it here: https://art.ecoartlab.store/products/set-of-40-samsung-frame-tv-art-4k-ultimate-claude-monet-famous-pain
