This comes from Monet's third trip to Holland. The two first ones were during the seventies. Young Monet painted canals, boats, windmills, like a guy still proving himself. Life went on. Camille passed away. Monet comes back in 1886. This is a very different Monet. Confident, bold, full impressionist mode. The tulip fields give him an excuse to go completely wild with color.
