Painting each other

Argenteuil, 1872. Monet rented a house by the Seine. Then Renoir showed up. Then Manet. They would sit on the same riverbank and paint the same view at the same time. Renoir painted Monet's wife in his garden. Manet painted Monet working on his little boat. Monet painted what he saw from that boat. They were living inside each other's paintings. Just friends showing up and painting together by the water. That's how Impressionism actually started.
