Impressionists and Crazy Houses
Samois was just another old village tucked between the Seine and the giant Fontainebleau forest, a sleepy spot where the river slows down. Then came the steam train. Paris was suddenly an hour away. Guillaumin was among the first to show up, painting the old houses on the banks. Rich Parisians followed right after, decided the place needed something new, and built vertiginous mansions people nicknamed the "Crazy Houses." turning the place into a fancy holiday playground.
