California looked like this before the highways
That dirt road pulling you into the valley. Orange poppies everywhere. Snow on the mountains in the back. Benjamin Chambers Brown painted this before Antelope Valley became a suburb. He was one of those California Impressionists who understood that the light out there does something no European palette was built for. Everything is warm and loud and alive.
