Monet: Good Investment
Of all the Poplars, this one was the hardest for Monet. He needed the right light, and the sun had to slip through one tiny gap between two branches. A few minutes a day, that's all he got. So he bought himself more time. He paid the lumber merchant extra to leave the trees standing, just so he could keep chasing that moment. Even by the standards of his day, it was a smart investment.
