1890. Ten years since Renoir walked away from Impressionism to chase the classical masters, and he was still lost. No warmth in the work, no answers, just regret piling up. So he did what he always did when stuck. He moved again. This time it worked. The Pearly Period. Paintings that looked lit from inside, like light trapped under skin. Monet loved it. Pissarro took notice. People couldn't get enough. And for once, Renoir believed in what he was making. It didn't last, but for a while, he had it.
