Short Film<1mGustave Caillebotte
Caillebotte lived on it
Caillebotte didn't just paint pontoons, boathouses or sailboats. He designed his own boats, and they won races. Then he got in them and skippered them himself, an active member of the local yacht club, not some painter dabbling in nautical scenery from a distance. Most Impressionists painted water because the light did interesting things on it. Caillebotte painted water because he lived on it half the time.
